School History

Albuquerque Barber College opened its doors for student enrollment on February 1, 1982 under joint ownership of Mr. Jeff P. Trujillo and Mr. Gene Varoz. Albuquerque Barber college was the first and only privately owned barber college in the state of New Mexico.

The school is registered and incorporated under Sub-chapter S. and is licensed by the New Mexico Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists. Being a stock corporation, on December 1, 1985, Mr. Gene Varoz bought all of the stock interest owned by Mr. Trujillo, making Mr. Varoz sole owner and Operator of the Albuquerque Barber College.

In February 1987, the school was accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology.

On December 31, 1998 Mr. Pierre Gonzales bought all of the stock interest owned by Mr. Gene Varoz, making Pierre R. Gonzales President of Albuquerque Barber College Incorporated.

On November 4, 2003, the school was relocated to a larger location at 601 San Pedro NE Ste 100.

Effective December 30, 2005, the school voluntarily withdrew from ACCSCT.
